About This Program
Science, Technology, Education, Partnerships. Building STEPS is a nonprofit based in Baltimore that offers a wealth of education and technology programs to high school students with the goal of “ensuring college completion and career success.” The nonprofit group has a mission to unlock the potential of bright Baltimore City students through a series of five program components that begin in 11th grade. These five components provide additional, supportive opportunities that help bolster and ensure future college and career success.
Building STEPS has partnered with 15 total high schools in Baltimore City to find bright and high-achieving students in their sophomore year of school. If students are accepted into the Building STEPS program, they begin the program later in the fall of their junior year. More often than not, Building STEPS students are the first in their family to earn a college degree and many are even the first to graduate from high school. Due to the progressive programming and support that Building STEPS provides Baltimore City students, nearly 80% of these students earn a college degree.
As a dedicated supporter and advocate for Baltimore City and the bright young minds that live there, Scott Plank is a proud philanthropic partner for Building STEPS and all they do to ensure as many high school students as possible unlock their potential, earn college degrees and establish successful careers.
